What you'll learn

- Familiarity with international distress signals, emergency communication procedures, and relevant maritime regulations.
- Recognizing potential hazards on board a vessel, including weather conditions, cargo types, and operational risks, and assessing the severity of potential emergencies
- Knowing the ship's emergency response plan, including roles and responsibilities of crew members during different emergency scenarios.
- Proper use of emergency communication systems, clear and concise reporting of incidents, and maintaining communication with relevant authorities.
- Basic first aid skills, proper use of life-saving equipment like life rafts, life jackets, and emergency survival gear.
- Understanding fire classifications, proper use of fire extinguishers, and fire containment strategies on board a vessel.
